We currently offer two LED modules:-
Surface mount LEDs and resistors (for limiting current to the LEDs) are used along with extremely thin enamelled wire (for the flying leads on the three LED variant) to minimise the weight; both types weigh less than 1g. The current used by the LEDs is insignificant compared to that used by the heli electronics/motor; I have found that my normal 6 minute flight time (using 300mah nano-techs) is not affected by having the three LED variant fitted (the two LED variant uses less current).
Power to the LEDs is via two wires which need to be connected to the battery in parallel with the main heli connection. We have purposely not put a connector on the wires as people have different preference for which batteries/connectors they use; the two wires are coloured accordingly (red is positive, black is negative) - connection the wrong way round should not cause any damage, but the LEDs will not work. Note that these products are only designed for use with a single cell Lipo (i.e. 4.2V max) as used by the standard MCPX & MSR - any other use may result in the LEDs being damaged.
If you need any further guidelines on connecting up, drop us an email & I'll get straight back to you.
